Why isn't the USB scale working on my Mac?

The first time we try to read the weight off your USB scale your Mac will try to launch the installed hidscale application.  This may trigger Rosetta 2 and if you cancel that install, the scale app  will not run. You can manually install Rosetta 2 from the Terminal app with the following command.

softwareupdate --install-rosetta

Another reason for problems is that Mac security may block the hidscale app. You can check this in Mac Security near the "Allow applications from" popup. Right below it may say "hidscale" was blocked to protect your Mac. Press the button to "Open Anyway"
